BC Dance Launches Arts & Academics

BC Dance: The Ballet Conservatory of Dance Music & Art is excited to announce the launch of our Arts & Academics program starting fall 2017!  This one of a kind program will offer full arts and academic experience for a select group of middle school students. Students will receive fully accredited academic coursework and pre-professional training in ballet and modern.

Stay tuned for more details on how this program supports students interested in pre-professional dance training, and how it is structured.

The academic program will be led by Lucinda Peralta. Mrs. Peralta is a certified teacher with an extensive resume. Most recently she was a teacher at Castlehill Country Day School where she taught Spanish and was a DIEBELS Assessment Specialist. Prior to that, Mrs. Peralta was a fifth grade teacher at The American School of Dubai where she served as a math and science teacher as well as the Emirates Integration Specialist. Mrs. Peralta also taught at the Audubon Academic Academy in San Diego. She is a graduate of University of California, San Diego and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Peralta leading our academic program.

The arts program will be led by Cory Fragoso-Gram. Mr. Cory began his dance training at the pre-professional academy Canton Ballet, in Canton, OH, under the directorship of Cassandra Crowley. Mr. Cory also studied with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School; danced on scholarship at The School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center in New York City; and graduated high school from The Harid Conservatory, the prestigious arts institution in Boca Raton, FL. After receiving a full four-year scholarship to Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Cory then spent several years performing as a professional dancer with Ballet International and the Dayton Ballet before he entered the M.F.A. program at University of Arizona’s School of Dance.

After graduating with his Masters of Fine Arts in 2007, Mr. Cory took up a directorship position at Dance Makers Studio in Yuma, Arizona, and in 2008 resumed his professional career with Ballet Tucson under the directorship of Mary Beth Cabana. In 2010 he left the company to take an adjunct faculty position with Pima Community College, where he continued to instruct dance technique classes in ballet, modern, jazz and dance conditioning until 2012. Mr. Cory has trained extensively in the pedagogical art of dance and has been practicing as an instructor since 2001. He has thoroughly enjoyed working through Tucson and Phoenix with the students and families since 2004 and is excited to share his knowledge, passion and love for the arts with students in the Arts & Academics program.
